About Hard Candy
Hard Candy is a space where women from all backgrounds and identities can share their stories. Where we can all share our joy, frustration, passion, pain, excitement, and everything in between. This digital magazine celebrates you - your creativity and the community that forms when we share who we are with one another. Our mission is to empower and inspire through diverse voices and perspectives. So let's create something amazing together!

Gatekeeping is for losers. So we've gathered a list of some favorite local businesses in the area. You'll find that most are woman-owned, owned by a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, or run by a POC. So next time you need a haircut or a place to practice yoga, you can know where the cool kids go.

What is Hard Candy? Hard Candy is an online zine that shares the creative works of local women. Our goal is to be a platform for women, a place where they can share their stories - from the serious to the silly. We hope that sharing our voices and hearing from others builds a stronger community.
What type of submissions are you looking for? We accept both writing and visual art. Your prose submissions can be plain text or a scan of something you hand wrote or combined with a visual element. We encourage all kinds of submissions - from poems and stories to doodles and fine art. Submit your dream journal entries, best playlists, a rant you need other to hear, manifesto, interview with someone local, sketch, cartoon - we just want you to have fun with it!!
Who can submit to Hard Candy? We welcome submissions from all women in the Nashville/Davidson County area. (Aged 18+) And we mean this in the most inclusive way possible - cis, trans, femme identifying folk, and nonbinary individuals are encouraged to submit creative work. (So basically, just not cis men. Sorry, not sorry.)

Do you have a printed version? While we would love to print copies of Hard Candy, we are currently only publishing our digital issues on this site. You can download a PDF of each issue. In the future we hope to print issues!
Do I get paid for my submission? Hard Candy does not currently pay for submissions. But we can pay you in ~love & appreciation ~ (Seriously, that you for sharing your creativity with us - we are so honored!)
